The very first graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sr. Joan has taught courses on the graduate level and all literacy courses on the undergraduate level. During her tenure at STAC, she has served as Director of Graduate Education; Acting Chairperson for the former Division of Teacher Education; and Director of Clinical Experience. During two sabbaticals from STAC, Sr. Joan studied in Rome under a Renewal Program for Dominican Women Religious; in Dublin at the Marianella Center in Ireland; and during two separate summers in Lithuania for the American Professional Partnership for Lithuanian education, sponsored by APPLE.
Prior to coming to St. Thomas Aquinas, Sr. Joan taught for twenty-one years in various elementary schools throughout New York State. She received her MS in Reading Education from Hunter College; a Teaching Fellowship from BU; and earned her Ed.D. in Reading and Language from Boston University.
